Several inches of snow possible in Pennsylvania this weekend

PENNSYLVANIA — A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for parts of north-central and central Pennsylvania from Friday morning through Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch includes Tioga, Northern Lycoming, Sullivan, Southern Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Columbia, and Schuylkill counties, affecting communities such as Williamsport, Mansfield, Trout Run, Bloomsburg, Sunbury, Pottsville, Danville, Shamokin, Berwick, Wellsboro, and Laporte.

Forecasters say the region could see a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain during the storm.

Current projections indicate 3 to 5 inches of snow and sleet, along with ice accumulations between one-tenth and two-tenths of an inch. The combination of wintry precipitation is expected to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.

The storm could impact both the Friday morning and evening commutes, with slippery roads likely across the region. Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts and be prepared for changing conditions as the storm approaches.
