
PENNSYLVANIA — A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Friday for several counties in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland, as heavy snowfall and strong winds continue to impact the region.
Snowfall and Wind Conditions
- Southwest Pennsylvania & Northern West Virginia: An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected, with wind gusts up to 35 mph.
- Northeast, Northern & Southeast West Virginia: Heavy snow with additional accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, accompanied by wind gusts up to 40 mph.
- Western Maryland & Eastern West Virginia: 4 to 8 inches of snow, with some areas seeing up to 10 inches. A light coating of ice is also possible. Winds may reach 40 mph, particularly on ridges.
- Somerset County, Pennsylvania: 2 to 6 inches of snow, with higher totals west of Route 219. Wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph could cause blowing and drifting snow.
Travel Hazards
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to become slick and hazardous, posing a risk for drivers.
The storm could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes, with low visibility and difficult travel conditions.
Precautionary Measures
Officials urge travelers to exercise caution, keep an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water in their vehicles, and check road conditions by dialing 511 or visiting their state’s traffic website.
