OHIO — A crash involving two semitrucks shut down all lanes of Interstate 70 on the west side of Columbus Tuesday morning.

The collision happened around 7:10 a.m. on I-70 East near I-270, according to a Columbus public safety dispatcher.

One of the trucks was carrying traditional car batteries, some of which began leaking after the crash. Diesel fuel from the vehicles also spilled onto the roadway.

One person was taken to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with injuries, officials said.

As of Tuesday morning, all lanes of I-70 East are closed from state Route 29 in West Jefferson to I-270. It is not yet clear how long the closure will remain in place.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Transportation are on the scene to assist with cleanup and traffic management.
