COLUMBUS — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in August.
The suspect, 29-year-old Shavez Hargrave, appeared in court on Wednesday after being taken into custody.
The incident occurred on the evening of August 21, when authorities responded to reports of an accident and gunshots on the 5100 block of Cedar Drive in Columbus.
Officers found 27-year-old Remarcus Smith-Heagler in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later died.
On October 10, SWAT officers arrested 22-year-old Dewarin Powell for Smith-Heagler’s murder. Police continued to search for Hargrave, who was also connected to the crime.
Prosecutors revealed that the shooting stemmed from a drug deal. Hargrave was given a $1.5 million bond.
