OHIO — Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding a suspicious house fire that claimed the life of a 20-year-old Akron woman last December.
The Blue Ribbon Arson Committee and Crime Stoppers are providing the combined reward in hopes of generating new leads in the case.
Haleigh Horger died in the fire on December 7, 2024. A second person inside the home and two Akron firefighters were also injured.
Fire officials reported that Horger was trapped on the third floor of the house, located in the 1100 block of Vernon Odom Boulevard.
When firefighters arrived, flames were already pouring from the top window and side of the house. The structure was ultimately deemed a total loss.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is leading a joint investigation alongside the Akron Police and Fire Departments, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728. Callers can remain anonymous, and all tips will be thoroughly investigated.
