FLORIDA — A 23-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested after deputies say he fled a traffic stop and later tried to escape from handcuffs in Flagler County.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop Justin Quintero after clocking him driving about 70 mph in a 35-mph zone. Authorities said Quintero failed to stop and continued driving before eventually being taken into custody.

Deputies reported that Quintero showed signs of impairment, including unsteady movement, staggering, and a strong odor of alcohol. He allegedly refused to perform field sobriety exercises and declined a breath test.

While being transported, officials said Quintero attempted to escape from his handcuffs but was unsuccessful. No injuries were reported.

Quintero, of Palm Coast, faces multiple charges, including fleeing law enforcement with lights and sirens activated, reckless driving, driving under the influence, refusing DUI testing, and resisting an officer without violence.

The incident occurred in Flagler County. The case remains under investigation.
