NEW YORK — While there are currently no official plans to bring Buc-ee’s to New York, the popular Texas-based travel center chain could logically expand into the Empire State in the future, based on patterns seen in other states.
Buc-ee’s typically builds along major interstate highways and near growing suburban or tourist-heavy areas.
In New York, potential locations could include areas along the New York State Thruway (I-87) or Interstate 90, which see high traffic from both commercial drivers and vacationers.
The Hudson Valley, Capital Region near Albany, and areas between Syracuse and Rochester are strong contenders due to their access to highways and large rural parcels suitable for Buc-ee’s massive footprint.
The Southern Tier, along I-86, could also serve as a strategic stop for travelers crossing from Pennsylvania.
If Buc-ee’s continues its northward expansion beyond Ohio and Kentucky, New York could eventually be a viable market, especially in regions that support large-scale roadside retail and fuel operations.
