Potential locations for Buc-ee’s expansion in Ohio

OHIO — While Ohio eagerly anticipates the arrival of its first Buc-ee’s near Dayton, speculation continues about where the popular travel center could expand next.

With its reputation for large-scale stores and an expansive selection of food, fuel, and merchandise, Buc-ee’s locations typically thrive in areas with high traffic and significant tourist activity.

One logical site is along the I-71 corridor between Columbus and Cleveland.

This stretch of highway connects two of Ohio’s largest metropolitan areas and sees heavy commuter and tourist traffic.

Additionally, the area near Mansfield, positioned roughly midway, could benefit from a Buc-ee’s presence, offering a convenient stop for travelers heading to attractions like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or the Columbus Zoo.

Another contender could be along I-70 east of Columbus, particularly near Zanesville.

This route serves as a gateway for travelers heading to Pittsburgh and beyond, making it an ideal spot for a high-traffic travel center.

Lastly, southeastern Ohio, near Marietta along I-77, could provide Buc-ee’s with a foothold in a less-served yet highly trafficked region, particularly for those traveling to West Virginia.

  • I wish they had looked at Midway Mall, tons of space, established restaurants and 11 hotels to handle I-90 traffic between CLE rock hall, Cedar point, Niagara falls, Detroit, wine country, Lake Erie, etc.,plus I-80 @ same intersection. I think Buc-Ees wud have had terrific business. a shame we missed out.

  • What about the people in Northwest Ohio we always seem to be forgotten about when it comes to the awesome and New Fun things like this!! I think that a Buc-ees somewhere along like Lima to Toledo would be Great!! All the Traffic headed up to Sandusky to Cedar Point in the Summer or even to Toledo which has some Major hospitals! And University's in Toledo and Bowling Green both! Also all the Traffic headed into Michigan!! Let's not forget about that!!

  • Not sure if Ashland, OH has the land for it, but it would be worth looking into. It's the mid point between Cleveland and Columbus. It's also an hour west of Akron/Canton.

  • Near Mansfield is the place, as we need business in our area. We have lost many businesses and we are half way in between Columbus and Cleveland on busy Route 71

  • We need this between Columbus and Cleveland as Route 71 is a busy highway and Mansfield is the half way point. It would be probably the busiest of any of their stores.
