Postal worker robbed at gunpoint in Ohio, police searching for suspects

OHIO — Police in Akron are searching for three suspects accused of robbing a postal worker at gunpoint Monday afternoon.

According to the Akron Police Department, the robbery occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the 200 block of West Long Street in Akron. Officers said three men approached a United States Postal Service mail carrier, and one of the suspects displayed a handgun during the encounter.

Police said the suspects took the victim’s personal property before fleeing the scene in a gray SUV. The vehicle was later located abandoned and unoccupied in Cleveland, according to authorities.

The suspects are described as men in their 20s who were wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts at the time of the robbery.

The investigation is being assisted by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
