Police seize large amount of narcotics in Virginia

VIRGINIA — Virginia State Police have confiscated more than half a million dollars’ worth of narcotics and 27 firearms as part of an ongoing crime suppression initiative conducted with federal and local partners.

Between July 30 and August 5, state police seized 54 pounds of narcotics valued at $527,000, along with firearms worth $14,500 and 2,003 controlled substance pills. The operation also led to the recovery of two explosive devices.

The seized drugs included 1.2 pounds of cocaine, 1.2 ounces of crack cocaine, 10 pounds of methamphetamine, 42.9 pounds of marijuana, 7.4 pounds of fentanyl, 2,002 fentanyl pills, and one ecstasy pill.

Authorities also reported 18 new human trafficking tips, bringing the total number of tips to 1,131. State police are currently investigating or have investigated 229 cases, with 3,158 investigative activities underway.

Officials said 69 victims have been identified and offered services as part of the effort.
