Police seize large amount of drugs from residence in Georgia

GEORGIA — The Paulding County District Attorney’s Office announced this week that more than $260,000 in drugs, cash, and property has been seized and forfeited following a long-running investigation into a locally known “drug house” in the Dallas area.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, the case began more than two years ago when the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force and the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office focused their investigation on a residence believed to be involved in illegal drug activity.

A search conducted in August 2023 resulted in the arrest of Aaron Jones Sr. During that search, investigators recovered approximately 137 grams of heroin, 15 grams of cocaine, and 15 grams of fentanyl, along with a 2018 Chevrolet Suburban and nearly $117,000 in cash.

On Jan. 5, a judge ordered the seizure and forfeiture of the drugs, vehicle, and cash. Court records state that the home and money were used to facilitate the sale of illegal drugs and had become known locally as a “drug house.” The seized assets have since been transferred to the state.

In a statement, District Attorney Robert S. Lane said authorities intend to aggressively pursue drug-related crime in the county.

“Working alongside the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, we want drug dealers to know this: if you bring your criminal enterprise to Paulding County, we will dismantle it piece by piece,” Lane said.

The District Attorney’s Office did not indicate whether additional charges or arrests are expected in the case.
