NORTH CAROLINA — Police in Durham are searching for a man wanted in connection with a deadly stabbing earlier this month on the American Tobacco Trail.
According to the Durham Police Department, 46-year-old LaRue Barbee is wanted and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Chesleigh Eloyd Lyons.
Officers responded around 4:13 p.m. on March 9 to a report of a stabbing behind a building near Fayetteville Street and Pilot Street. When officers arrived, they found Lyons suffering from stab wounds. He later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the incident, but officials previously said the stabbing did not appear to be random.
Police are asking anyone with information about Barbee’s whereabouts to contact the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440, extension 29544.
