
ALABAMA — Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted on a felony warrant in Jefferson County.
Authorities say 35-year-old James Cortez Waters is wanted for discharging a firearm into a building. The warrant was issued on March 6, 2026, and he is being sought by the Bessemer Court Division of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Waters is described as a Black male, standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 275 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. His date of birth is listed as December 19, 1990.
Officials say his last known address was in the 300 block of 66th Street South in Birmingham.
Anyone with information on Waters’ whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama. Tips can be provided anonymously, and information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward. Authorities advise the public not to approach the suspect and to contact law enforcement immediately with any information.
