SOUTH CAROLINA — The Spartanburg Police Department is searching for a man accused in a violent domestic incident involving kidnapping and assault.
Authorities said warrants have been issued for the arrest of William Jason Nesbitt following an investigation into a disturbance reported Tuesday near Berry Field on North Cleveland Park Drive.
According to police, Nesbitt allegedly strangled a woman while she was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Investigators say he then drove the vehicle while repeatedly assaulting the victim and threatening to kill her.
The incident ended when witnesses intervened, prompting Nesbitt to flee the scene.
Police said investigators used security footage, witness statements and the victim’s visible injuries to obtain warrants for Nesbitt’s arrest.
Nesbitt’s last known address is on California Avenue in Spartanburg.
He is wanted on charges including kidnapping, larceny and domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
