OHIO — Authorities are offering a $10,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of 21-year-old Daevonte Dixon, who is accused of shooting two police officers during a traffic stop on the northeast side Wednesday evening.

The Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9, in coordination with Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, announced the reward Thursday.

Dixon is charged with attempted murder and felonious assault in connection with the shooting, which left two Mifflin Township Police officers hospitalized.

One officer was critically injured after being struck multiple times, including once in the face. The second officer was shot in the right arm and is listed in stable condition.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. near Mecca Road and Perdue Avenue. Dixon was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by officers.

Four minutes into the stop, Dixon fled on foot. As officers gave chase, he allegedly pulled a firearm and opened fire.

Court documents state the vehicle’s driver cooperated with investigators and identified Dixon as the shooter. The driver told detectives he had picked up Dixon and was headed to buy a watch when the stop occurred.

Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin described the shooting as “unprovoked.”

Additional court records show Dixon has a criminal history dating back to 2022. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to felony charges, including aggravated burglary and unlawful possession of a dangerous ordinance, stemming from a 2023 case.

He was sentenced to up to six months of community control as part of a plea agreement.

Dixon is considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and camouflage pants.

Anyone with information on Dixon’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 614-525-3350.
