Police searching for wanted fugitive in Indiana

INDIANA — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for failing to appear in court on a charge of strangulation.

According to Michiana Crime Stoppers, John Spansail is currently wanted as of August 6, 2025, in St. Joseph County, Indiana.

He is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The charge stems from an earlier case involving an alleged act of strangulation. Specific details about the incident have not been released, but failure to appear in court means Spansail is now considered a fugitive.

Anyone with information about Spansail’s whereabouts is urged to contact Michiana Crime Stoppers or local law enforcement. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
