NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities have identified a suspect following a breaking and entering incident that prompted a large law enforcement response Tuesday afternoon in Arden.
According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 12:55 p.m. to a reported breaking and entering in progress on Appian Way near Royal Pines Drive.
Due to the nature of the situation, the Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were deployed as a precaution.
Around 3:30 p.m., officials urged the public to avoid the area. By just before 5 p.m., deputies confirmed the home had been cleared.
The suspect has been identified as Nicholas D.J. Ivers, who has multiple active warrants for charges including felony assault by strangulation, felony possession of a Schedule I substance, misdemeanor assault on a female, and domestic violence.
Ivers is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are warning the public not to approach him and to call 911 immediately if he is spotted.
