SOUTH CAROLINA — Police are searching for two suspects after an employee was assaulted and shot during a robbery at a Florence grocery store Thursday night.
According to the Florence Police Department, the robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. at Oakland Grocery on Oakland Avenue.
Investigators said two men entered the store, and one of them jumped over the counter and showed a gun before taking cash from the register.
Police said the same suspect then forced an employee into an office, where he struck the employee in the head multiple times with the gun before shooting the employee in the leg. Both suspects then fled the scene.
The employee was taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries has not been released.
Police are asking nearby residents and businesses to check surveillance footage for any images of the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Florence Police Department.
