Police searching for suspect following hit-and-run incident in Florida

FLORIDA — Police in Miami are asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Friday morning.

According to the Miami Police Department, officers responded shortly before 3:30 a.m. to a crash involving a pedestrian near Caraf Oil, located by the intersection of Northwest 12th Avenue and Northwest 28th Street in the city’s Allapattah neighborhood.

Authorities said the victim, identified as 62-year-old Antonio Sanchez, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment. Sanchez later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle involved in the crash is a tan or gold SUV that likely has front-end damage.

Police have not released additional details about the driver and continue to investigate the incident.
