VIRGINIA — Authorities are searching for a 24-year-old woman who told her family she planned to hike in the mountains to watch the sunrise before disappearing earlier this week.
The Chesterfield County Police Department issued a missing person alert Sunday morning for McKenzie Barker. She was last seen around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, after leaving her home to go hiking.
Police describe Barker as a white woman with brown hair and blue eyes, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 114 pounds. She was last known to be wearing a dark-colored jacket and pants, a blue scarf, red shoes and carrying a light blue backpack.
Barker is believed to be driving a blue 2016 Mazda CX-3 with Virginia license plate TMC-3028.
Investigators said they do not know which trail Barker intended to hike. Police have contacted agencies throughout the region, including Shenandoah National Park officials, as the search continues.
