FLORIDA — The U.S. Coast Guard and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a swimmer who went missing near Bean Point Beach Sunday night.

Officials said 20-year-old Abhigyan Patel was last seen swimming just before 7 p.m. wearing an olive green shirt.

He was reportedly swimming with a friend when he became caught in a riptide. His friend was rescued and brought safely to shore, according to the sheriff’s office.
