Police searching for missing person in Virginia

VIRGINIA — The Virginia State Police have issued a Senior Alert for a missing 72-year-old man from Salem who may be in danger.

Robert Kenneth Mitchem was last seen around 7:41 p.m. on Friday, walking away from LewisGale Medical Center on Electric Road.

Authorities say he left the hospital on foot and has not been seen since.

Mitchem suffers from a cognitive impairment, and police believe his disappearance poses a credible threat to his health and safety.

He is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair.

He may be wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, a black jacket, and a gray ball cap.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Salem Police Department at (540) 375-3078. Updates can also be found on the Virginia State Police Active Alerts page.
