NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities in Anson County are searching for a missing 19-year-old and are offering a reward for information that leads to her safe return.

According to the Anson County Sheriff’s Office, Aliyeh Smith was last seen Tuesday morning walking away from her caretaker’s residence along South Leak Street in the Morven area. Officials said the caretaker did not realize Smith had left the home until about 1:50 p.m., when deputies were notified.

Search efforts began shortly after and continued into Wednesday. The operation was coordinated by Emergency Management Chief Rodney Diggs and Sheriff Scott Howell, with assistance from several agencies.

More than 70 personnel took part in the search, using drones, ATVs, and foot patrols to cover wooded and swampy areas south of Morven. Despite extensive efforts, authorities said Smith and her belongings have not been located.

Smith was last seen wearing a tan hoodie with an orange graphic design on the back, a black backpack, a black bonnet, dark-colored pants, and yellow Crocs. Authorities said her hair was styled in twists.

As the search continues, the sheriff’s office announced a reward for information that helps bring Smith home safely. Officials are asking anyone with information about Smith’s whereabouts to contact 9-1-1.

“Please continue to keep Aliyeh and her family in your prayers until she is safely brought home,” the sheriff’s office said.
