Police searching for hit-and-run suspect in Indiana

INDIANA — Police in Evansville are investigating a hit-and-run crash Friday evening that left a 61-year-old man with serious injuries.

According to the Evansville Police Department, officers responded around 6 p.m. on March 6 to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving injuries in the area of West Columbia Street. When first responders arrived, they determined that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The injured man was transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital, where he was treated for serious bodily injuries.

Because of the severity of the crash, multiple specialized units with the Evansville Police Department were called in to assist with the investigation. Those units included a crash reconstructionist, the Crime Scene Unit, the Adult Investigations Unit and a department sergeant.

Authorities have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved in the crash.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Evansville Police Department as the investigation continues.
