OHIO — The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating two inmates who escaped from the Brown County Adult Detention Center Monday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jerry Cooper, who was being held on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault, escaped along with Roy Butler, who was charged with drug trafficking. The two reportedly broke a security window and fled through the facility’s impound lot.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, along with aviation units and canines, are currently searching the area.

The sheriff’s office said both men will face additional escape charges. Authorities are urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact Det. Sgt. Charles Ernst at 937-378-4435, ext. 126. Officials warn the public not to approach the inmates if spotted, but instead call law enforcement immediately.
