Police searching for escaped inmate in Ohio

OHIO — Authorities are searching for an inmate accused of rape who escaped from a secure medical facility in Scioto County on Thursday morning.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, 61-year-old Jimmy Wombles managed to flee the facility where he was being held under lockdown.

Wombles faces multiple charges, including rape, possession of firearms under disability, and possession of controlled substances.

An arrest warrant has been issued, and Brown County deputies, along with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service, are actively investigating his escape and working to locate him.

Officials are urging the public not to approach Wombles if spotted, but to immediately contact local law enforcement. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Brown County Sheriff’s Office at (937) 378-4435.
