KENTUCKY — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped custody for the second time in recent months, according to the Estill County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, officials reported that Jeffrey Harrison escaped while being transported to the courthouse for a scheduled appearance.
He was reportedly able to free himself from both handcuffs and shackles before fleeing.
Law enforcement launched a large-scale search effort, with helicopters in the air and officers on the ground focusing on the area surrounding the courthouse.
The sheriff’s office has not released additional details at this time, and the search remains ongoing.
