GEORGIA — The Savannah Police Department is searching for an escaped detainee after authorities say he fled custody Saturday afternoon.
According to police, 24-year-old Stanley A. Smith escaped from officers while at a hospital. Officials said Smith was last seen running eastbound on East 67th Street toward the canal in Savannah.
Police described Smith as wearing a camouflage hoodie, black sweatpants and black socks. He was not wearing shoes at the time he was last seen.
Authorities are urging anyone who sees Smith or has information about his whereabouts to call 911 immediately. Tips can also be submitted to CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or through the department’s mobile app.
The situation remains under investigation.
