PENNSYLVANIA — Police are searching for a man accused of committing a string of burglaries in Wilkinsburg who later escaped from a Pittsburgh hospital while in custody.
According to the Wilkinsburg Police Department, Davon Brown carried out multiple burglaries over a three-day period and is wanted on charges including theft of a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, and theft.
Brown was arrested Friday but was taken to UPMC Shadyside Hospital after suffering a suspected drug overdose while awaiting transfer to the Allegheny County Jail, officials said. Later that day, Brown escaped from the hospital.
“We were not notified of this until Saturday, when a call was placed by the arresting officer to find out when Brown would be discharged in order for police transport to be arranged,” the department said in a statement.
In addition to the Wilkinsburg charges, Brown is also wanted by Wilkins Township and North Versailles police for unrelated offenses.
Police described Brown as a 6-foot-tall, 230-pound man with a bald head. He was last seen wearing a colored shirt, black and white sweatpants, and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is urged to contact police.
