KENTUCKY — Authorities are searching for a man described as “armed and dangerous” following a shooting and assault in Madison County, according to officials.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said 38-year-old Christopher Morphis of Lenoir City is wanted in connection with the incident, which occurred Friday night on Kentucky River Road.
Investigators said Morphis allegedly shot one woman in the leg and threatened another woman with a firearm around 10 p.m. The woman who was shot also suffered head injuries consistent with an assault, deputies said.
Authorities reported that Morphis fled the scene in a Chevrolet Astro van, which was later found abandoned on Carver’s Ferry Road with two flat tires. Officials now believe he is on foot.
An extensive search involving K-9 units, aerial drones, and assistance from the Richmond Police Department was conducted but did not locate Morphis.
Deputies said a Ring camera later captured a man running along Kentucky River Road around 1 a.m. Saturday, prompting another search that also did not locate him.
Authorities urge anyone with information on Morphis’ whereabouts to call 911 immediately and warn the public not to approach him.
The investigation remains ongoing.
