
MARYLAND — Authorities in Baltimore are investigating a series of non-fatal overdoses reported Wednesday afternoon.
According to Baltimore police, as many as 10 overdoses occurred around 12:08 p.m. in the area of West North and Pennsylvania avenues.
Six people were taken to local hospitals, while four others declined medical transport. Police have not released further details about the incident.
Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott said in a statement that the Mayor’s Office of Overdose Response, the Baltimore City Department of Health, and several community partners responded to the scene. Teams distributed naloxone and provided harm reduction information to residents in the area.
“The Mayor’s Office is aware of ten overdose patients at Penn North, six of whom have been transported to local hospitals,” Scott said. “The Mayor’s Office of Overdose Response is on the scene, and the Baltimore City Department of Health is canvassing the surrounding area with community partners, distributing naloxone and educating residents on harm reduction strategies.”
Scott said representatives from the Baltimore Police Department, Baltimore City Fire Department, and local organizations including UMB Embrace and Peace Team were also present. The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement has maintained a presence in the Penn North area and will continue to offer support to residents.
