OHIO — A massive police response was triggered Sunday afternoon at Meadowdale High School after a fight broke out during an all-star basketball game, sparking chaos among a crowd of more than 600 people.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, all available officers from the Dayton area were called to the school after the initial altercation between students quickly escalated.
The students involved in the original fight had left the scene before officers arrived, but tensions remained high.
As a large group exited the building, police ordered them to leave school property. Additional fights broke out, leading to several detentions for disorderly conduct.
Another wave of people left the school soon after, also receiving orders to vacate the area as multiple law enforcement agencies arrived.
Several individuals were arrested for not complying with officers. Two boys were taken into custody after attempting to fight officers; deputies used tasers to subdue them.
One officer was pepper sprayed, and another suffered minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officers worked for over an hour to clear the property as disturbances spilled into nearby neighborhoods.
