NORTH CAROLINA — Police responded to a reported bomb threat at Research Triangle Charter Academy on Monday morning, according to authorities.

The Durham Police Department said officers were called to the school around 7:40 a.m. after receiving information about the threat.

Officials said the campus was evacuated as a precaution. By around 9 a.m., the parking lot was largely empty while officers blocked off the area during the investigation.

Authorities noted the day was a scheduled teacher workday, though some students were seen outside the building during the incident.

Police have not released details about the source of the threat or whether any suspects have been identified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
