
GEORGIA — Police in Port Wentworth, Georgia are launching a new safety effort called “Operation Lucky Charms” ahead of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The Port Wentworth Police Department (PWPD) announced the initiative Friday to help reduce impaired driving and improve safety during the holiday festivities.

- Conduct roadside safety checks throughout the city
- Focus on deterring impaired driving
- Increase police presence during the celebrations
What officials are asking
Police are urging people attending St. Patrick’s Day events to:
- Plan ahead for transportation
- Use a designated driver or rideshare
- Make responsible choices if drinking alcohol
Officials say the goal is to keep both residents and visitors safe during one of the busiest celebration periods in the area.
