
GEORGIA — Police were working Friday to resolve a barricade situation at a home in Chatham County, prompting officials to ask residents to avoid the area.
According to the Chatham County Police Department, officers responded to a domestic-related incident at a residence on Heron’s Nest in the gated Long Point subdivision off Johnny Mercer Boulevard. During the response, police said a person barricaded himself inside the home.
Authorities said they do not believe anyone else is inside the residence. Police confirmed that the other party involved in the domestic incident is out of the home and safe.
Due to the ongoing situation, Chatham County police requested assistance from the Savannah Police SWAT team. Officers established a presence in the area and urged residents and motorists to stay away while the situation continues to unfold.
Police said no additional information was immediately available, including whether anyone was injured or if charges are expected. Officials stated that updates will be released as more details become available.
