GEORGIA — Law enforcement officials say they have made the largest methamphetamine seizure in Cherokee County history, taking drugs worth hundreds of thousands of dollars off the streets.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS) and other law enforcement partners seized approximately 200 pounds of methamphetamine on Monday from an undisclosed storage facility. The drugs have an estimated street value of $500,000, authorities said.
Investigators described the seizure as a “significant blow” to a drug trafficking network with known ties to El Salvador, Mexico, and the violent MS-13 street gang.
The sheriff’s office said that charges are forthcoming, but the names of any suspects have not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
