OHIO — Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred overnight on the city’s southeast side.
According to the Cleveland Division of Police, officers were called to the 16500 block of Lipton Avenue for a report of a domestic violence situation.
Authorities said a 33-year-old man was outside the home in a vehicle with a firearm and was threatening what police described as “suicide by cop.”
When officers arrived, they encountered the man with a gun and ordered him to drop the weapon. Police said the man raised the firearm and pointed it at officers, at which point one officer fired, striking him.
Officers provided first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The man was transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
Police confirmed that no officers were injured in the incident.
The shooting remains under investigation.
