
VIRGINIA — Chesterfield County police are investigating an apparent attempted abduction that occurred Wednesday afternoon outside the Clover Hill Library.
According to police, the incident happened around 2:38 p.m. at the library, located at 6701 Deer Run Drive. A 3-year-old boy was playing in front of the building when a woman approached him and picked him up. A nearby caregiver immediately confronted the woman.
“After a brief struggle, the woman released the child and ran off toward Hull Street [Road],” police said in a statement. No injuries were reported.
In an updated release, police said investigators have identified the woman and learned she has cognitive disabilities. Officers said there is no ongoing danger to the public.
