KENTUCKY — Louisville Metro Police are investigating the shooting death of an 8-year-old child on Saturday night.
Officers were called just after 10:30 p.m. to the 6900 block of Bardstown Road for a reported shooting, according to police spokesperson Matthew Sanders. When officers arrived, they learned the child had died from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities said it is not yet clear whether the shooting was accidental or intentional.
Police also said it is too early to know whether any charges will be filed.
The investigation remains ongoing. No further information has been released.
