
VIRGINIA — Virginia State Police seized more than 26 pounds of illegal drugs, 23 firearms, and one explosive device during a weeklong statewide operation conducted from July 3 to July 9, the agency announced.
The effort, carried out in coordination with federal and local law enforcement partners, led to the recovery of narcotics with an estimated street value of over $939,000.
Among the drugs seized were 16.2 pounds of cocaine, 7.4 pounds of methamphetamine, 3.6 ounces of fentanyl, 2.2 pounds of marijuana, and 1.2 ounces of crack cocaine. Authorities also confiscated $164,430 in cash.
In addition to the drugs, police recovered 23 firearms and one explosive device, with a total estimated value of $11,500.
As part of ongoing investigations, state police received 49 new tips related to illegal gambling, bringing the total number of gaming-related tips to 1,628. Fourteen new tips related to human trafficking were also received, with 1,071 tips logged to date.
Police said 205 cases have been investigated or are currently ongoing, and 66 victims have been identified and offered services.
“The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime,” the agency said in a statement.
“By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities.”
