INDIANA — A high-speed police pursuit Monday morning temporarily closed State Road 205 near the Whitley County border and prompted nearby schools to secure their buildings.
The road was shut down in both directions between McDuffee and Bryie roads, less than a mile from Churubusco, while officers tracked a vehicle. Indiana State Police joined Fort Wayne Police and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department in the pursuit, with several special operations vehicles deployed at the scene. Details of the chase have not been confirmed.
Video shared by a viewer showed multiple police vehicles moving at high speed, with the pursued vehicle pulled over at one point.
During the chase, Northwest Allen County Schools placed nearby schools on a “secure action” for about 15 minutes as a precaution. According to the district, the protocol brings students and staff inside and locks exterior doors while classes continue as normal.
A message to families read:
“Today several of our schools were notified of a police chase occurring in the area. As a precaution, we placed the schools in Secure. The Secure status lasted 15 minutes. All school operations have now returned to normal.”
The road reopened, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
