PENNSYLVANIA — A high-speed chase on Interstate 99 Monday morning ended with the arrest of a New Jersey man, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
In a news release, Pennsylvania State Police said troopers were notified of an erratic driver parked along the shoulder of I-99. When troopers arrived, the driver was observed straddling the shoulder with his vehicle. Police identified the driver as Tadeo Arza Arce.
Authorities said Arza Arce fled the scene at a high rate of speed as troopers attempted to make contact. The pursuit continued southbound on I-99, with police reporting that Arza Arce was weaving through both lanes of traffic and onto the shoulder.
Troopers said Arza Arce failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens. To bring the pursuit to an end, police deployed a tire deflation device and later executed a PIT maneuver.
Arza Arce was taken into custody and charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude police, a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment, additional misdemeanor drug charges, and multiple traffic summary offenses.
He is currently being held at the Blair County Prison and was awaiting a preliminary arraignment Monday afternoon.
