TENNESSEE — Three men were arrested in separate incidents over the weekend as part of the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Street Racer Initiative in Davidson County.
According to police, officers first observed a white Infiniti traveling more than 90 mph in a 40-mph zone on Bell Road while appearing to race a black sedan. Officers deployed spike strips near Reynolds Road and Smith Springs Road, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a ditch.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old Jason Linares, and three passengers ran from the vehicle but were later detained at a nearby apartment complex.
Police said an AR-15 rifle was found in the woods near where the suspects fled. Linares was charged with drag racing, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, theft and driving on a revoked license. He was later released on a $50,000 bond.
In a separate incident, officers attempted to stop 28-year-old Mondrikus Hamilton after he was seen driving without headlights and swerving into oncoming traffic on Trousdale Lane. Police said Hamilton fled at a high rate of speed before crashing into another vehicle and running to a nearby gas station, where he was arrested.
He faces charges including evading arrest, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and misdemeanor marijuana possession. He was released on a $16,000 bond.
Authorities also arrested 20-year-old Michael Brice during a traffic stop on an outstanding aggravated assault warrant from a 2024 incident in which he allegedly pointed a gun at a minor and pulled the trigger before striking the victim with the weapon. Brice was released on a $25,000 bond.
Police said the enforcement initiative included 17 traffic stops, two vehicles towed and several citations issued as part of efforts to reduce illegal street racing in the area.
