OHIO — U.S. Marshals have arrested a man in Northeast Ohio who was wanted for second-degree murder in Florida, authorities announced Thursday.
Floyd Jones, 42, was taken into custody Wednesday night by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) and the Canton Police Department.
Jones was wanted by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office for a second-degree murder charge, as well as for failing to appear on a weapons offense out of Carroll County, Ohio.
Also arrested was 52-year-old Angela Parr, who was staying with Jones at a home in the 1200 block of Tuscarawas Street E. in Canton. Parr was wanted by Canton Police for assault.
According to officials, task force members went to the residence, knocked, and announced their presence.
Parr was taken into custody without incident, but Jones barricaded himself inside the home, prompting a response from the Canton Regional SWAT team.
After a brief standoff, Jones surrendered and was arrested. He was booked into the Stark County Jail, where he will await extradition to Florida.
The investigation and arrests were the result of a joint effort between federal and local law enforcement.
