
OHIO — A teen riding an electric scooter was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in North Ridgeville, according to police.
The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. April 2 at the intersection of Lorain Road and Cook Road, authorities said.
Police said a 15-year-old boy was operating an electric scooter and attempting to cross Lorain Road from the northwest corner of the intersection, heading south.
“The juvenile entered the roadway against the crosswalk signal and was struck by an eastbound pickup truck that was proceeding through the intersection on a green light,” according to a news release.
Officials did not release information regarding the teen’s condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
“The North Ridgeville Police Department would like to remind all residents to use caution when crossing roadways,” the release states. “Whether walking, bicycling or operating a scooter, individuals should always utilize designated crosswalks and obey all traffic control signals to ensure their safety and the safety of others.”
