Pennsylvania school closings and delays for Friday

0

PENNSYLVANIA — Dozens of schools across Pennsylvania will operate on delayed schedules Friday, December 12, as snowfall and freezing temperatures continue to cause hazardous travel conditions across several regions of the state.

District officials say the delays are intended to give road crews additional time to clear and treat bus routes before students begin their morning commute.

In western Pennsylvania, Ligonier Valley School District in Westmoreland County announced a two-hour delay.

Farther east, numerous schools in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre region—including Abington Heights, All Saints Academy, Carbondale Area, Dunmore, Holy Cross, Howard Gardner School, Lake-Lehman, LaSalle Academy, Mid Valley, NEIU 19, North Pocono, Old Forge, Scranton, St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, Valley View, Wyoming Area, and Wyoming Area Catholic—also issued two-hour delays, with some districts noting modified schedules or the suspension of morning career-technical classes.

Career technology programs were among the more affected, as Career Technology Center of Lackawanna Countyannounced a three-hour delay with no morning CTC, while LPN students must report at 11:15 a.m.

In southeastern and central Pennsylvania, additional two-hour delays were issued by Blue Mountain Christian School in Lebanon County, Tri-Valley Schools in Schuylkill County, and Tulpehocken Area Schools in Berks County.
