PENNSYLVANIA — A Lehigh County commissioner has been arrested as part of what prosecutors described as a “massive drug investigation” spanning multiple states.
District Attorney Gavin Holihan announced Friday that Commissioner Zachary Cole-Borghi was taken into custody at Bethlehem City Hall. Holihan said Cole-Borghi has since posted bail.
The commissioner’s arrest is among 22 made this week in a multi-year investigation led by the Lehigh County Drug Task Force with assistance from multiple jurisdictions.
“There have been 22 individuals who have been arrested as part of this investigation and we anticipate more arrests as the investigation proceeds,” Holihan said.
Authorities said arrests were made in Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, as well as in New York City, Chicago, and Wisconsin. Indictments were issued by a grand jury.
During the investigation, law enforcement seized cash, firearms, cocaine, marijuana, and other items. Officials have not released the full list of individuals arrested.
The investigation remains ongoing.
