OHIO — Jackson Township Police announced that officers will step up traffic enforcement over the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend, focusing on impaired driving and seat belt violations.

The operation is being funded in part by a nearly $60,000 traffic safety grant awarded through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office. According to a media release, the enforcement period will run from Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 30.

“Our goal is to educate motorists on the importance of traffic safety in order to keep our roads safe,” officials stated.

In addition to the increased patrols in Jackson Township, the Summit County OVI Task Force reported it will operate sobriety checkpoints across Summit County from late Wednesday, Nov. 26, into early Thursday morning, Nov. 27.
