
VIRGINIA — A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer caused significant traffic delays Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 95 southbound in Richmond.
According to Virginia State Police, troopers responded to the crash around 1:15 p.m. near the Bells Road exit. An initial investigation found that a disabled vehicle had stopped in the left lane, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving five passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer. All of the vehicles involved were disabled as a result of the crash.
Several people were transported to area hospitals for medical evaluations. Police said none of the reported injuries are considered life-threatening.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the left lane and shoulder of I-95 southbound were closed while crews worked to remove a vehicle that became lodged underneath the tractor-trailer. Motorists were advised to expect delays in the area.
The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
