NORTH CAROLINA — Interstate 85 South was shut down in northeast Charlotte following a crash Sunday, causing significant traffic delays in the area.
According to officials, the crash occurred near exit 39 at Statesville Avenue. The closure stretched traffic from exit 39 to exit 41 at Sugar Creek Road.
All southbound lanes were impacted, with heavy congestion reported throughout the area.
Authorities have not released details about injuries or what caused the crash.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as crews responded to the scene.
